Not Quite Vacation (Celeste)-FINISHED

[Guardian Celeste Carter]

Celeste smiled and nodded, "Lets go to my room, and we shall speak there, this is hardly the place for a private conversation which, we need to have apparently" she said and and picked up her things, and thanked the guardians who had helped her, and the one who was going to jump in to help with the fight. She promised that she would see them later, and they would catch up, while she was there. Celeste also helped grab Anya's things. "Shall we head off then" she asked her. Celeste wasn't thinking about what Anya had to tell her, she was still in shock that Anya almost beat her.

Celeste walked to her room, and smiled and unlocked it, and walked inside of it, and placed her things down on the floor, and she smiled and said " Come on in and sit, down" she patted a chair that was right in front of the couch. "What did you want to tell me" she asked in a kind voice. Celeste started to wonder what she wanted to talk about, she wondered if she was being to tough on her. She wondered if Anya wasn't really learning anything, but she decided to wait for Anya to tell Celeste what she needed too.

"All my life, I thought I could keep it a secret, but I can't it's more or less killing me, which is not helping my performances" Anya began as she pulled her hair out of her eyes. She looked down not meeting the mentor's eyes and took a deep breath and just gave her the whole info.

"my name is Anya Ozera...I'm a spirit user and a Moroi, I am a dhampire to everyone else due to illusion my one specialty I keep using, my other two abilities are shielding and...C-Compulsion...I will tell you now I have never compelled anyone especially you, I made a point of that...and I never used my illusion unless I had to to keep this secret please forgive me I am so sorry and oh gosh please let me keep training, I want to learn, to defend and...f...fight"

The girl put her face in her hands and sobbed and choked out. "I wanted...to prove...that you didn't need to be a guardian to fight, that Moroi's could learn it too and be just as capable and I did...I'm the living proof" she still choked as she cried harder. "I am...so...so...sorry, please forgive me, please don't be...mad at me"

Celeste looked at Anya and listened to her story carefully. Celeste didn't know what to say to what she heard, only that her student was crying, and she felt the need to comfort her. "Oh Anya" she said looking at her. She got up and moved closer to her, and said "You could have told me from the beginning i would have still trained you" she smiled a little. "You didn't have to lie to me, i think its important for Moroi to at least learn the basic knowledge of defense, so it makes it easier on guardians." She said looking at Anya.

Celeste pulled Anya close and said "I could never be mad at you, im a little sad that you didn't trust me with this information." she looked at Anya and said "If you would have told me you would have someone to talk to, and thats what im here for, not just for training, but if you needed to talk, im here" she said "I always was, and i will be until i take my last breath or a strigoi gets me, i hope its old age that gets me first" she said to her with a smiled.

"Am i the only one who knows" she asked. If she was she would keep it to herself, even if she wasn't she wouldn't tell anyone it was something that Anya had told her and that need Anya needed to tell people and it wasn't Celeste's place to tell. "I wont tell anyone as long as you dont want me too." she said "I'll be there when you need me always" she looked at her, like a mother would a child. Celeste didn't have kids so she thought of Anya as her own.

"I'm about to tell Queen Vasalissa" she said as she looked at Celeste. "Thank you so much for not screaming at me" she tried to keep her voice straight and not cry anymore, the worst part was over. She hugged the older woman and just sobbed all over again. "I am so, so...sorry" she said as she tried to take a breath. She held onto Celeste and she shook her head.

"I'm sorry...but now that you know, I need you more than ever" she said as she choked. "I want to act as a double agent so to speak be a guardian but be guarded I would say the hell with being guarded but you know the rules, I mean...we could do something I don't know oh gosh Celeste my head" she had half a mind to just bang her head against the wall instead, she turned to her mentor and just hugged her again and cried.

Celeste looked at Anya and just hugged her. She let Anya cry, and she would as long as she needed to. Celeste wasn’t there to judge anyone, she was there to help that was her job, and she was there to help whom ever needed help. “I would never scream at you, unless you went and did something stupid.” She said to her. “I do know that the knife may have slipped but I have known for a while that you do cut yourself” she told her. “I do pay attention, I figured I would let you come to me and tell me about it when the time was right” she said, and hugged Anya tighter.

“I will be here for you whenever you need me” she said to her, she almost sounded like the priest in church, ‘Ask and ye shall receive.’ Celeste had different views then what the church at the school did. She often was able to leave on Sunday for a few hours to attend her church service which was only an hour away. “I’m sure that if we appeal to Queen Vasilisa, I can become your guardian, and you can still be a guardian.” She said to her. “When you finish telling her, tell her that I am willing to become your guardian and still being your mentor” she told Anya. “That way, you will always be safe and you won’t have to tell your secret to yet another guardian or more people until you are ready for the Moroi Population to know.” Celeste said and just held her.

She stopped crying, now exhausted. She looked up at her mentor and sighed wiping tears from her eyes. She needed to get herself together, having Celeste was a bit of a comfort, hell it was a lot of comfort. "T-T-Thank You" she managed to choke as she threw her hair back and tied it in a ponytail. "and I will...I'll tell her that as soon as I tell her this, I mean I'm sure she'll keep that secret, she kept many things for me when we were in school but...that's another story too" she said as she closed her eyes tightly and breathed. She looked at her watch and realized it was not time yet.

"so, until I have to go and see her, what do I do?" she asked as she looked at Celeste on what to do. "I can run another lap or whatever...I still want to fight some more" she told her as tired as she was, she needed to think about something else.

Celeste smiled a her and said "My suggestion would be to go clean up, get a shower." She smiled and looked at Anya. "You ever need me you know where to find me" she told her, and let her go from her arms. Celeste looked at her and said "I'm meeting up with friends in about an hour, but if you would like we can go for a quick jog." she smiled and looked at her, "Then i have to come back and get ready" She informed her. She was just meeting a few friends she hadn't seen in a while, it was something that she was looking forward to doing.

"Lets Run" she said to Anya standing up, it took her a few moments. She didn't really want to fight anymore today, she was getting old, or well she felt like she was getting old. She walked down to the bottom floor, and outside, and started to jog. She started off at a slow pace, getting in the rhythm. She picked up her pace a few steps. She started to think about what Anya said to her, and it was a wonder that Anya wasn't messed up more then she already was.

She gave her mentor a head start letting her jog ahead. She cleaned up quick it didn't take long to just wash her face, she'd take a shower after the jog besides, she had to meet Vasalissa anyway. After about five minutes she caught up to her mentor. "You know it's a miracle you're taking it so well" she said so that only Celeste could hear. She kept up with the older woman and looked up, the weather was nicer now the breeze was ruffling her hair she smiled for the first time in hours. "and I do intend on kicking some guardian butts in this week or next, I so want a real stake"

She than surpassed her mentor still jogging but she just kept jogging. She sighed as she looked all around and waved at a guardian she had seen from school, this one she actually liked. She hoped that this would be her last year at St. Vladimire's yes she loved the school, yes she felt safe but she didn't want to be enclosed and protected anymore, she wanted to show everyone and anyone what she could do.

Celeste smiled at Anya and said “Well I’m very good at keeping a straight face. I worked with a Lord Szelsy, and he didn’t want you interfering with anything. He preferred that his guardians were part of the background, and didn’t bother with them. He wanted them silent, and well I’m not all that great about communicating without words. So he wanted me replaced which is why I ended up as your mentor” she said with a smile on her face. “I’m very good at my job” she said to her and smiled.

“Well you’ll get a Stake when I feel you’re ready, and we go over the rules of staking and I give you a lesson, and don’t go and be smart spouting off answers before I ask the questions.” She said with a smile. Celeste remembered when she first received her silver stake; it was the proudest day of her life. Celeste wanted to give her a stake but she had to make sure she was ready to handle one and didn’t go randomly staking anyone because she got mad at them. Anya speed picked up and so did Celeste’s.

"I'm not known for getting mad and just attacking people, I thought you of all people should know that" she said as she kept jogging, they were almost halfway through the first run. She wondered where Celeste would stop her but she didn't care. She than said "hmm, if this thing all ever came out I think I'd love my guardians to be you know actually be my friends as I don't have many...I believe in communication and the use of the English language" she told her mentor which she did. She sighed as she looked up at the sky once more and said. "Can we please, please....get to the stake soon I mean, before this summer is over...I'm nineteen years old Celeste you know that I would've already graduated by now under normal circumstances"

She regreted saying this, it looked like she was whining but she couldn't help it. Everyone else in her age group and younger had been allowed to handle a stake, she was one of the oldest students in the academy and while she understood she was there because of her instability, she also wanted to prove that she could handle herself. Death was one thing and she still grieved for Mason and the attacks at the school, but she also wanted to prove herself. She hoped Celeste would not snap at her for this.

Celeste smiled and said "I know but its the principle of the thing." she smiled and ran with her. "Dont worry you'll get a stake soon enough" she said with a smile. Celeste knew that they would soon cover stakes, and the many uses, and then she would get one. "Patience is the key here" she said to Anya and smiled. "I am well aware of your age, and your circumstance, that is why we are taking our time with getting you a stake" she said to her. She wasn't yelling at her or anything she was just saying that it was going to take more time because of her past.

"You'll get your chance to go at a dummy with a stake." she said with a smile. "I'll even give you a practice stake to go after me with" she smiled hoping that Anya would see the fun in that. It would get her a chance to finally beat her mentor. "Remember, you still have to partake in all of the Senior things, like the trials again, and guarding another moroi" she smiled. "And you know i'll be one of the 'Strigoi'." she said to her knowing what fun that would bring.

"oh shit" she said as she looked at her. That hadn't turned out so well the last couple years yes, she had improved and yes she was getting better but she never grasped it completely, six weeks she was all stressed and all and she cutting her wrists didn't help matters. She shook her head. "oooh, the things I have to do to get a stake and to pass the senior year...or attempt to" she sure hoped she would not be there by the time next semester came around she would be twenty and she had enough of school, she wanted to go out into the "real" world so to speak.

She was still sad that she wasn't quite getting a stake yet, she had half a mind to compel her mentor but shook the thought out of her head that would not go very well and plus it was something she swore to herself that she'd never do while guardians could be compelled it was harder to compel someone she already knew and plus it was Celeste that would come back and bite her big time. She nodded as they stopped now. She hoped to God that Celeste didn't realize the expression on her face and what she was thinking, they had been working together for awhile and Celeste knew her better than anyone. She just hoped now was not one of the cases. If Celeste thought that she was even thinking of the idea of Compulsion, she knew she'd have a lot of explaining to do.

Celeste's smiled faded for a moment when they stopped and she figured out what Anya was thinking. "You dont want to do that, you know" she said to her. "I could make it to where you would never get a stake, so you better just follow my rules, and you'll get a stake" she said to her. Celeste wasn't about to just give a stake to anyone. They had to know the precautions, and what went into making one, and how important they were to guardians. They had to be 100% sure they were ready for a silver stake.

"yes all the things that had to be done before one could graduate." Celeste said remembering her last year she loved it, but if she was Anya's shoes she would want to be out of there by now. "When you leave the Academy you will be glad and you'll want to go back just because it was easier" she said with a smile on her face.

"oooh....how'd you know?" she asked with a guilty expression on her face. She shook her head. "Dosn't matter...but you know if you don't give me a stake than well, I'd just be not prepared too much and that wouldn't end very well" she sighed as she looked up and looked at the sky. "Well, Celeste I'll see you later, I'm going to go and find queen Vasalissa" she said as she started to walk giving her mentor a wave. How had the woman known she had no clue but Celeste was right, disobeying orders was not an option. She wanted to graduate, badly but she'd do as she was told all good things took time and she would be very happy when she was out in the meantime though, she had a friend to see and a queen to appeal to well, the queen and her friend were the same person but oh well.

Celeste smiled and said "I can read your face" she looked at her and said "you wear a lot of your thinking on your face." She looked at her, "Well now that i know i can read your face" she said and looked at her. "Don't worry you'll get one soon enough" she said with a smile on her face. They would go over the grounds rules and information of the next couple of days, and then she should have a stake or practice stake in her hand by the end of the week, or thats what Celeste was planning. "Have fun Anya, if you need me i might be in my room if im not just leave a note, and i'll find you" she told her.

Celeste walked back to her room, and jumped in the shower, and cleaned herself up. She wasn't really meeting a bunch of friends, just her boyfriend that no one knew about, they only seen each other when they were in a warded place like this and when there were a bunch of other guardians around. Some of the guardians knew about their relationship and promised to keep it a secret. Celeste just really loved him, and she knew that it would never actually work between them, but she was aloud to have someone she could call her own. She did her hair in curls or rather it turned out more wavy then it did curly. She put on a black dress, she did really own one. She placed on her heels and walked out of her room on her way to meet, Jack.
