Role-Playing Rules for Howarts New Generation (Also on Hour of Darkness)

God-Moding:

This will NOT be tolerated at all, unless you have spoken to an admin and BOTH characters have agreed to it.

What is god modding?

Inserting actions of a character that is not yours into your posts.

Examples:

^{Then she slammed her fist into Alexia's chest. She smiled as she heard the breaking of ribs.

He laughed again and formed inside her shield harshly pushing her out of it and fading into shadow once more, encircling her until her formed right in front of her again.

This time as she flew up wards again he stopped her, holding her there some 40 feet in the air. He flipped up and moved out pf the way, dropping his hand and sending her plummeting to the floor with the weight of a bus.

Laura lunged immediately after the electric spikes, and she slammed Andrea to the ground, and took up her throat in her jaws. She bit hard enough so that if Andrea struggled she'd be in serious trouble, but not hard enough to do any major damage yet.}

Yes those are examples from this site, and only a few mind you. I have had it. This is how it is going to work from now on regarding God Modding.

First warning – just in case you did not realize you where god modding this gives you the heads up

Second warning – 25% increase in your meter

Third Warning – 50%

Forth – Disabled for three days

I hate to do this but, i will not tolerate it, it aggravates me, and i have banned someone before because of it.

Perfection:

No “Mary Sue/ Gary Sue.” This is someone who is perfect in every way. Too many powers (we welcome you to have powers, but we will cap you if we have to).

People are multidimensional, thus make your character with ups, downs and everything in between.

Not too many positive or negative traits please. We don’t want the best looking and only the greatest people walking around here, nor do we want all ragged out freaks that hate life and everything about it.

All characters have a weakness, their kryptonite per say.

Don’t try to create these, and if you persist we would hate to ban someone.

Respect:

This really should be number 1!

Please respect others on the site. Remember that your character may not like another character but that does not go into the person behind it.

NO SPAMMING! I had to say it. I don’t expect it because I hope that everyone will be reasonable and mature here. We all have our past experiences with people that make us angry, upset or mad. But don’t bring that into the character.

IC: In Character

OOC: Out of Character

Most boards are in character boards, but if you want to say something out of character you will use the “OOC” before you type and then when returning to your post you can write “IC” before just so there is no confusion

Example

(OOC: Mark is a Legilimens, so he read your thoughts.)}

Shouting

CAPS are considered to be yelling. We know characters are going to get mad, but don’t over do it.

Spelling & Grammar:
Readable!

Perfection is not required, we have all styles and all types of Role Players here. From the advanced to the beginner. So keep that in mind when posting.

An Admin will go around from time to time fixing some mistakes, don’t be offended, she just cannot help herself.

No swearing, and keep sexually content to a minimum, because no one wants to read about it, if it needs to happen skip it and just say it happened.

Last: please don't use excessive similes or excessive punctuation.

Third Person/Past Tense:
Post on the boards as if you were writing a story, in third person, not first person, past tense.

Example

‘Amber walked into the room.’ Not ‘I walked into the room.’

A typical post in third-person should be something like this:

^{Kristina was having such a hard time this week and so she decided to take the chance and get herself something from the three broomsticks. Bundled in her overcoat she walked in the snow that was covering her boots.

’Maybe this was not a good idea after all.’ she thought as the cold was hitting her face turning it pink. She however was nearly half way there, no point in turning back now.

When she arrived her foot prints had been blown away by a gust of wind. She was glad to have a nice warm place to slip into. She slipped into the three broomsticks and smiled seeing the warm fire roaring. She took off her mittens and hat and took a seat waiting to be served.}

Tip: Introducing yourself to a new place is best done by starting somewhere like a lobby if in a hotel, or an entrance way to some place.

Some Role-play guidelines:

No one liners please i hate them all im asking is for atleast 2 paragraphs. 3 to 5 sentences, because you should have a lot to describe, i can understand if it is only one paragraph if the first one is really long, but its really easy to write 2 paragraphs.

Try not to just tell what your character is doing, but describe it.

Face Claim:

Please please put your Celebrity in the Face Claim, no two people can have the same face, unless you are twins.

PG13:

PG13, a little swearing lets not go over the top, and please no Sex scenes, no one here wants to read it, so if you think it will happen just skip over it and say it happened, because no everyone wants to know who your character is doing it with.

Now that that is all said and done, i am a pretty nice person, i get along with everyone,(Password is-Dr.Pepper) i would hate to ban anyone so just follow the rules and we wont have problems, and everything will go smoothly, and smashingly.
